A 1x1 RPer who pretends she's a writer, but who's really a sloth in human form. Give me cute and angsty and awesome ships (especially ones with fantasy and/or sci-fi elements) and I'll be slow as hell with replying, but I'll love you with head canons and ask memes.
hello rph community! idk if any of you are under the hell that is the beta, but there is something really important i figured out. they are getting rid of gif pages. i know, it’s crazy. any gif hunt that is not under a read more does not show up in the tags. if you are a resource, gif pack maker of any kind, PLEASE, reblog this so others know. tumblr is actively trying to get rid of the rp community and we need to stay strong to circumvent their censorship
So from what I can tell, looking through some tags really quickly - posts with links to gif pages don’t show up in the tags BUT posts linking to posts that link to gif pages do. So in theory, if you don’t want to repost your gif pages you should be okay with a master post of some sort per fc at the moment.
Future gif packs are probably better off going straight under a readmore, which I actually am… not thrilled about. (Tumblr likes to crash to the point I have to close and reopen my browseranytime I try to post/edit any pack under a readmore with more than 100 gifs and my gif packs tend to be over 100 gifs) so I’m going to be keeping an eye on my gif pages with the account I have that has beta over the coming weeks / days to see if they continue to function.
But I’m gonna be honest - I’m… not exactly eager to share new packs anytime soon. I’m dealing with health issues so giffing hasn’t been at all a priority but when I finally do have content I feel is ready to share again, I’m probably gonna drag my feet.
Edit: Also, if you have links to these pages already, the pages themselves still work. It’s just getting packs to appear in the tags that are an issue. So, I guess if you guys see a pack you like, reblog it - boost it so others can use it!
I don’t think it’s just gif packs. I think it’s links to any external site. I just tested it, and a post w/ a youtube link did not appear in the tags. I think tumblr is recognizing blog pages as external sites. It is not an active effort to get gif packs/rpers of the site. If you want an alternative for hosting your gif packs you can probably try imgbb.com
I cannot imagine this will be a popular decision, or one that makes any kind of sense. Hopefully it’s just temporary while they’re testing out beta. But they are not “getting rid of gif pages” that we know of. That makes it sound like they are disappearing off the site. They seem to be preventing all external links from appearing in tags.
Sorry if I misspoke, but it definitely isn’t like they are disappearing, it just won’t be seen in the search. Only gif hunts with gifs posted under a read more are present in the current search feature they are testing. Hopefully they fix it, I’m just saying from the beta test they are doing now, only read more gif packs show up.
No problem! I understood what you meant. I just wanted to clarify because people are getting very naturally riled up about this and I wanted to make it extra dextra super duper clear that gif pages aren’t being “deleted” from sideblogs (because I felt like it could be misinterpreted by some people), and that this doesn’t just apply to gif makers/rp, but to all external links.
Also I edited my original rb but I’m gonna add it here too to make sure as many people see it as possible:
EDIT: In the meantime you can message @feedbackbot or send an email to support@tumblr.com and tell them (politely) that you would like external links in tags supported!!! Real humans are allegedly reading feedbackbot as of now, that is the best way to air concerns.
It’s black history month so as a black girl, I’d like to leave a few reminders for non-black people:
•Recognize the fact that many black people are a part of the LGBT community and that it’s not just white people who can be gay, bi, etc.
•Acknowledge the black men and women that have been victims of hate crimes
•Include black women in your feminism
•If a black person calls you out over something racist that you’ve said, don’t say “Well actually…” or “My black friend says…” Just don’t. If you’re getting called out for something, it’s for a reason.
•Don’t speak over us.
•Don’t act like you know better than we do about our own history and/or culture
Does anyone else have that one friend whose sleep schedule is like an ever-evolving mystery? One day they’ll appear to be asleep for the entire 16 hours that you’re awake, but the next three they won’t appear to actually sleep at all. Sometimes they appear to be on Australian time, other times their schedule has adjusted to somewhere in the middle of the Pacific ocean. (I call this Cthulhu time.) You go a week without seeing them and you have no idea if they’re just really busy, dead, or if their sleep has simply synced up to the exact hours you’re awake and online. The only indication that they’re still in this mortal coil is vague posts about grocery shopping that pop up on their blogs at 4:12AM.
I’m horrified at myself because I randomly decided on 4:12AM for an obscure and horrible hour in the morning, but after I posted I glanced down at the clock and
did i just vaguepost about myself
There are two things I love about this post:
the number of people who are, with apologies, That Friend
the fact it keeps getting splorts of notes every day at 4:12am
As someone who ran into the glue at 23rd st while trying to commute home during the protest I can tell you that:
1) there was a sign encouraging you not to swipe or get glue on your card and that
2) the emergency exit door was open so you could either walk onto the platform or hop the turnstile to still access the train
The protesters left you with a choice: become a fare evader (supporting the protest) or leave. But they didn’t stop access to the subway as a utility.
I see a lot of outrage in the comments about inconveniencing people on their commute home but consider whose commute under “normal” circumstances – under police surveillance – are inconvenienced by police.
Are you upset because you’re not someone who usually has to think about if you’ll be singled out for doing the same thing as everyone else?
Did the protests make you experience the thing that, oh, they were protesting against?
Hey, then they worked.
And if you don’t like it, well, the next subway stop is 5 blocks away. How convenient for you that this impediment was a one day, one stop friction in your life and not a constant threat.
And before anyone complains about how the protest impacted disability accessibility, 23rd st doesn’t have an elevator or other accessibility options. Let’s start with critiquing the institutional access first, shall we?
Can someone please explain this to me? because all I got out of this was, Protesters vandalized things, causing less money going to fund transit, causing transit prices to rise or causing transit to stop existing, potentially making transit unavailable long-term to people who depend on it, without inconveniencing anyone with a car of their own, meaning this disproportionately fucks over the poor.
Basically what happened is that the Manhattan Transit Authority raised the price of a train ticket by 2.75$. Which doesn’t sound like much, but now a large percentage of poor New Yorkers can’t afford to get to their jobs, and started jumping the turnstiles.
Now you’re right, subways cost money to run, and the fares are there for a reason. But what people are really protesting here is what the MTA did in response to the fare jumpers.
They hired cops to literally just…stand around and watch the stiles, costing the city MORE money than if they just reversed the fare hike. New Yorkers are furious because there’s clearly money to pay for these extra cops, but apparently not for maintaining the trains.
Tl;Dr The MTA basically said “we don’t have enough money to run the trains so we are increasing the price” meaning thousands of people were faced with either hopping the fare or losing their job, but when people started jumping the stiles they apparently the MTA had enough money to hire a small army of cops.
the most #UselessLesbian thing i have ever done was when i was trying to figure out if this girl liked me or not, just constantly arguing with myself about it, and after a couple, uh, months, of this, i was like, “god i wish i could just like… go to court and lay out all this evidence and have a couple lawyers argue over the TRUE MEANING of her text messages, and then a judge tells me if she likes me or not.” and then the proverbial lightbulb went off over my proverbial head, and i dug into my mock trial folder from high school and found the trial guidelines and i wrote out an entire trial transcript featuring a plaintiff (me), my attorney (my wildest hopes and dreams), a defense attorney (my worst fears and insecurities), and a judge (my desperate attempt at rationality). the final product was several thousand words long. it clarified nothing. at any point in this process did it occur to me to ask her how she felt about me? absolutely not. did i ever stop and think, “hey, maybe i should tell her that i like her?” absolutely not. that’s for people who take risks and i don’t take risks i take myself to court in my own head.
I’m sorry you put you thru this but I can’t help laughing
“i am sorry you put you through this” is for real the best phrase i have heard in 2018
